How much weight can a water mat hold?
The water mat weight capacity will defer between water mats. One of the biggest influences on capacity will of course be the size. For example, the 10ft Rave Water Whoosh has a weight capacity of 900 lbs, while the 20ft version's is 1,500 lbs. However, length is just part of the equation. Thickness is also a very important factor. To compare, the Island Hopper Lakeside Water Swim Platform at 10ft x 6in x 4in is only 17% wider but 25% thicker and has a capacity of 1,300 lbs vs. the 900 lbs of the 10ft x 5in x 3in Water Whoosh.
Are water mats worth it?
You may not know now, but after enjoying a day on the water on a floating water mat you will quickly learn that the answer is a resounding, YES! They will add so much fun to lake days. They are great for relaxing, playing games, and as a home base for swimming and watersport activities.
Do water mats last?
One of the biggest advantages of inflatable water mats and inflatable docks is their longevity. The materials are much better quality and are easier to take care of. These inflatables use heavy-grade, often drop-stitch, material that provides great durability and sturdiness. They will not rip or tear like the foam versions can, and they are easy to clean off. They are also very easy to store, which also adds to their longevity.
How can you secure a floating water mat?
To secure a floating water mat when it is not in use, we recommend stowing it in a secure area where it cannot fly off the boat. If that is not possible, bungee cords are a great way to secure them. On your dock, you can secure them in a storage locker or a mat rack or use a bungee to secure them.
Can you use a floating water mat in the ocean?
Yes, water mats are great for use in the ocean! If there are bigger waves they may not work the best but in calmer conditions and even light waves, they will work great and add to your fun. Make sure you clean your water mat off with fresh water after you are done for the day. This will keep your water mat from aging faster.
How do you store floating water mats in the winter?
Floating water mats should be stored in a secured area over the winter. The best recommendation is to keep them indoors where the temperature won't affect them as much, if at all. Inflatable water mats can be deflated, cleaned, dried, and then stored. Make sure the water mat is dry before storing. If not you may find mildew or mold in the spring. The same process goes for foam water mats, except that you will roll them up and wrap them with a band or bungee cord.
